ozy,
To help you learn a little more about Project, here is what I suggest.
Go to Project/Filtered For/More Filters. Find the "Incomplete Tasks"
filter and hit the "Edit" button. Study the filter criteria. Do the same
for the "Completed Tasks".

Hope this helps.

Have you done any tracking? You have to tell project what progress has
been made on your project before any tasks show as partially or fully
completed. There are too many ways to describe them all here, and the
most obvious ones aren't usually the best. Of course, if it's a school
project, that probably doesn't matter.

Hope this helps in your world.

I'll bet you entered all those dates in the "Actual Start" and "Actual
Finish" fields. An entry in Actual Finish marks tasks as complete. In MS
Project it is impossible to define BOTH the start and finish dates! The
whole idea is to define ONE end of the project, most often the start date
and enter the detailed breakdown of the activities required, an estimate of
the length of time each one takes, and the predecessor relationships between
them. When you have done so, Project computes a predicted finish date based
on that information. In fact, in the best of situations the ONLY date you
provide Project is the estimated Project Start Date (Project menu, Project
Information). Everything else is calculated for you based on that one date
entry.
