Where is the format tab on Word 2007?

People have told me to do the following to turn off automatic borders (I get
thick dashed lines when I type three consecutive asteriks and press enter)
and I see no way of doing it, not least because I see no Format tab.

Format | Borders and Shading, choose None; or click the down arrow beside
the Borders button on the toolbar and choose the last (No Border) option in
the palette.

Could you please help me?

Thank you,

John

*NOT* a real Word expert really. In the ribbon, page background is under the
page layout section and there is page borders.

The instructions you were given were for Word 2003 or earlier. When you have a
question about Word 2007, it's important to mention that version!

On the Home ribbon, in the Paragraph group, the bottom right button is the
Borders button. Click the down arrow next to it and choose No Border. Also, the
Borders and Shading item to open the dialog is at the bottom of that menu.

Word button (the Orb)
Word Options
Proofing
Autocorrect Options
Uncheck 'Border Lines' in the Apply as you type section

You could also get to the Autocorrect option with the Autocorrect Options
button that appears at the left edge of the changed characters. Click the
down arror for it and choose Control Autocorrect Options...
