Go back to the Microsoft Company Store and ask for the product key. If it
is not on an orange or yellow sticker, then ask for a replacement product.

Hello - My laptop where I had MS Office 2000 installed got
stolen- I still have my original MS Office 2000 CD's.
However, I do not have the product key. Can you please
provide one so I can install this on my new laptop?
Thanks so much!

1) This isn't MS tech support - it's a peer-to-peer Usenet group.

2) If your Office 2000 is OEM (i.e. came with your other laptop) then you
may /not/ install it on your new one as the licence is tied to the old and
cannot be tranferred. You would need to purchase Office 2003 (you may,
depending on the type of OEM licence, use 2000 as a qualifier for an
upgrade).

3) If it was retail then look here

What do you mean by the "Microsoft Company Store"? I
bought mine at the BX and I can't find a 25 number
product key either. The Certificate of Authenticity nor
the white sticker on the back of the CD case has a 25
digit number on it.

I just bought a new laptop two days ago (HP) and it has windows xp on it. it came with office 2003, but when i try to open anything, it asks for the product key. I looked at the sticker on the back of the cd case (which was a white paper envelope bundled in with all the other cds) the sticker is white but the numbers are not the PK. Since it came pre-installed on the laptop, i am confused about activation. how can i activate it without the pk,which i do not have, b/c there is no case tothe cd but a paper envelope? please help, i have a college project I need to get started on and i can't use office at all. thanks for your time.

Actually, the Windows OS product key is on the computer case. I have never
seen the Office PID put on the computer case.

| The prouct key is normally stuck at the back of your computer. Look
| very carefully at the back or even at the bottom of the box.
|
| Factory installed products never require product keys unless you
| messed up your system when connecting all the bits and pieces or you
| decided to reinstall the OS!.
|
| Hope this resolves your problem.

If you purchased your notebook system from HP, they are responsible for your Office installation, since it is an oem copy
You should contact HP and demand a disk for "Applications installed on this computer" along with all activation key codes. You paid your money to your computer vendor for your system with Office pre installed.
