Where's the Favorites feature?!

I just switched from Word XP to Word 2003. When I navigate by hitting
Open, I no longer have the option to add a folder to Favorites. Is
Favorites a feature of 2003? If so, where can I find it? If not, why
not and what is the substitute?

Many thanks.

'Favorites' is a folder like any other, you can add it to the 'My Places'
shortcut bar from the 'tools' menu in the file open dialog.

There's no longer an *easy* way to do this, but you can still do it.
Presumably you'll want to add the Favorites folder back to the Places Bar
first. Then, in Windows Explorer, create shortcuts to files and folders and
drag them to the Favorites folder. I myself never used the Favorites folder
in Word because it is full of Favorites from IE. Being able to add folders
to the Places Bar in Word 2002 and 2003 is much more satisfactory, since it
can be done on the fly for folders I'm currently working in, which can then
easily be removed later. Together with the Work Menu, the Places Bar makes
all my current work very easy to get to.
