Which Color Laser Printer?

M

MArk B

Does anyone have any recommendations or experience with using a color laser printer and Microsoft Publisher (2002)

I need to purchase a hefty color laser for some big jobs, but the last one I purchased, a Brother HL-3400CN was a nightmare when sending a MS Pub job to it.

The printer would have to be able to handle 11 x 17 paper.

Thanks!

Really on one brand if you want quality and trouble free performance and great printer drivers with excellent options, so that means Kyocera.

Kyocera is not only the best built printer on the market, they also cost a fraction of the price to run compared to others.
What is more, Kyocera fix and update their printer drivers unlike HP, Epson, Brother etc, who prefer to leave you in the lurch with their expensive lemons.

I recommend the HP LaserJet 5500 or 9500 series. Both offer superior quality
and stability, and have 11 x 17 tabloid support as well as duplex support.

Golly, and I just thought my kyocera phone was the best thing they made! (the 6035, NOT The 7135!) :)

tHANKS veyr MUCH! i WILL CHECK THEM OUT...

anyone else have any suggestions? I really would prefer to stay away from HP color lasers, for the same reason as the problems I had with the brother. Anyone have any thougts on the Xerox ones?

THANKS!

Kyocera Mita color laser printers that can handle 11 x 17.

We are talking $10 to $20 thousand dollars printers here, now, yes

OK, how about a more reasonable suggestion for a not for profit company!

We were considering some of the ~$5000 xerox color lasers...

anyone else???

Mark give Kyocera a call as they have units that are cheaper than that and
smaller.

They may have not hit the US yet, and may not be far off.

They say you cannot go through a day in your life without coming into
contact in some way or other with Kyocera equipment or Kyocera technology.

Could your explain your reasoning behind this?
Brother and HP are completely different printer manufacturers, and make
completely different printers. What makes you believe that HP printers will
be prone to the same issues as Brother's, but Kyocera's will not?

Ed because you are a total and complete ignoramus idiooot with only two grey
cells managed by cockroaches.

Ed a fool like you knows NOTHING about any hardware or software

Ed HP are now *INFAMOUS* for garbage products and fail to fix or update
drives.

Ed HP are also *INFAMOUS* for employing people at slave wages in foreign
countries for product support they fail to give.

Ed if you had anymore than two grey cells you would know that Kyocera is
among the finest quality industrial companies in the world

Ed you have no Blitisher company that is well known for anything other than
disasters and crashes.

Erm, that would be why he's an MVP and you're, er, not.

update drives.

OK, that's HP. What about Brother, Epson and any other brand you've bad
mouthed of late?

Ed if you had anymore than two grey cells you would know that Kyocera
is among the finest quality industrial companies in the world

They are also the most expensive.
Ed you have no Blitisher company that is well known for anything
other than disasters and crashes.

And what 'Blitisher company' would you be referring to?! Dyson? Rover?
Hotpoint perhaps? Funny, because our Hotpoint washing machine has given
nearly 15 years of (almost) trouble-free service.

Well what a surprise! He cannot, therefore he resorts to insults. Davey, as
I've said to you before; put-up - or apologise and shut up!

The HP 5500 is retailed for $3249.00, (I recommend the $4899 one) and
superior uptime and great quality. It doesn't even compare to Brother.
Brother is (in my opinion) NOT a quality brand printer (however, I have seen
a decent fax machine or two from Brother).

Does the HP really handle multiple copies of complex publisher files at 11 x 17 well? It seems color laser printers do not handle PCL very well, and I do not bother with postscript.

Kyocera is not sold nationally, only through local dealers, who are basically all scumbags IMO, same as Ricoh... so I think that is out.

Does ANYONE have anything to say about the Xerox printers

I am nervous about how the HP is going to work with very large publisher files...

You can contact a representative at HP direct from online, and they will be
happy to (at least they did for us), test the machine out, and if were were
not happy within a certain time frame, we were able to return it.

If I knew, would I have asked the question? I do not know, therefore I
attempt to find out, without spending thousands of pounds on a printer
myself.

What has that to do with the question? And anyway, I was asking Mark a

Do they actually admit that Microsoft Publisher is a program that will work with their printers?

Most printer companies deny the existence of MS Pub. (no joke)
