Why are somes tasks grayed out? It opens to "Task Sheet"

I am working on a project plan developed earlier by someone. There are
several tasks that are grayed out. When I double click on the task,
Microsoft Project open a new worksheet "Task Sheet" that lists several tasks.
How did anyone link the task from the parent worksheet to the "Task Sheet".
When you double-click other tasks in bold or plain, the "Summary Task
Information" window opens that displays several tabs, such as "General",
"Predecessors", "Resources", "Advanced", etc.

How did someone create a task (grayed out) and link that to another "Task
Sheet"?

Thanks,

Raj,
You may be looking at externally linked tasks, sometimes called "ghost"
tasks. Double clicking on an external task will open the file where that
task resides.

You can view external links under Tools/Links between Projects.
