Why do graphics in word 2002 disapear?

When inserting a graphic using clipart the graphic disapears, is this a fault
? or can I fix this, tried the help and everything seems to be set ok.

the drawings option is checked. But whenever I add a graphic and scroll
through the document etc, the page seems blank although the graphic is on the
page.

Sounds like the object is flowing to the following page because it won't fit
in the space remaining on the current page. When that happens, Word has
severe problems in where it locates the graphics. If you [right click] the
object and go to the [Format Object|Picture|AutoShape] dialog box and select
[Layout][Advanced][Postion], note the Vertical Absolute position. If it is
some off the wall value, then set it to '0.0"' That will make it located next
to the paragraph that it is 'anchored' to.

Also try inserting a manual page break just before the paragraph where the
object is located. That also helps tame the objects.
