why does a background table show up on my Word documents??

Office Pro- when a word doc opens a background chart appears- almost as a
watermark but as it doesnt print/ show on the printed version.
It also disallows specific graphics such as my compnay header.

How do i get rid of this??

It's not a certainty from your description, but try this:

1. Display the Drawing toolbar.

2. From the Draw menu, select Grid.

3. Clear the check box for "Show gridlines on screen."
