why does email keep asking for authentication when box is ticked

my email has started to show the message 530 your email could not be sent
authentication required, however the box is ticked "my email requires
authentication".

I'm GUESSING you're talking about using Outlook?

So did you PROVIDE the authentication required...by either choosing
the same as incoming email and providing that information or by
providing specific outgoing settings?

DOES your email provider require authentication?

Please provide more complete details.

prompted to make a "simple change, which was to click authentication but that
was already ticked, ive unticked gone back to outlook and the same message is
there.so i ticked the box again, but still get the same message, my b.t yahoo

We had that problem today, except we found the authentication had been
turned off. The problem was solved when we reactivated it. But how does the
authentication get turned off without us doing it?
