Why does Outlook 2000 exit every time I start it up?

When I go to open Outlook, it starts up and shows on the screen but within 2
seconds of that, it tells me that it performed an illegal action and
automatically closes. It will not give me any time to view details as to why
that occured. Can someone please help me with this problem. I am about to
the point of formatting the hard drive and doing a clean install.

Open any Office program and try the Detect and Repair Option. Failing that,
with Outlook closed, find and rename outcmd.dat to .old. Note that this is
a hidden file.

Ok, I did both and it still does almost the same thing. It now will let me
view the details and this is what it had:

OUTLOOK caused an invalid page fault in
module PSTPRX32.DLL at 0167:3ff5aaa1.

Can someone tell me what all of that means? Am I going to have to
re-install it from fresh? Thanks.
