Why doesn't my computer recognize my thumb drive?

I just bought a thumb drive and was able to load files onto it on my laptop
at home. However, when I took it to school and tried to install the drive
onto the computer there, the computer would not recognize it. How do you get
a computer to recognize an external drive if it doesn't do it automatically?

Hi, trainer07,

This question really has nothing to do with the Microsoft Office family of
products, but you may need to check with the system administrator for the
school systems to ensure they haven't disabled the capability.
