why is screen blank?

Thought I'd post this here. The help desk here can't figure it out. MS
Project2003- was working fine a few days ago. I loaded my project and
nothing is there. Same for any other project I load. No menu options.
Can't create a new project. Can't create tasks. Nothing shows at all. Only
thing I did between last use was install some other software and uninstall
reinstall (not MS software).

I'd try a reinstall of Project and see if that helps.
There is a "repair" option which I'd try first. If that doesn't work, then
try uninstalling and reinstalling with a restart in between.

We reinstalled it but did not repair or reboot between. Sounds like we
should do that, because the problem was carried over. I have to wait until
tomorrow now but we'll give that a try.

Thanks very much for the quick response.

Well the help guy came back and we tried uninstalling, rebooting, installing,
repairing and resetting defaults from the help menu. No effect. It still
remembered the files history somehow, so it didn't delete everything.
Maybe there is a shared file in the MS Office directory that is corrupted.
We may try uninstalling the MS Office components and reinstalling tomorrow
unless anyone has a better idea.

Julie,
Unfortunately that did not fix it. The program does open in my case and the
project is read, because it shows the start and end dates in Project
Information. But it does not have any other menu selections that work.
Nothing displays. Maybe there is some other file shared with Office that has
gotten corrupted. My administrator will try reinstalling Office programs to
see.

Thanks for the help. That was a good find anyway.

Hi Rob,

You're welcome and thanks for the feedback.

Sorry the fix didn't work in your case. Good luck with the re-install.

Problem fixed-
It was just a setting in Tools- Options-
**Display Project Guide** was checked. Unchecking it fixed the problem.
Somehow this got checked by itself. No idea why it does not work when
checked.

Thanks for all the help.

BTW that was under the INTERFACE tab on OPTIONS.
