Why is the slide background appearing black on a MAC?

When we view the slides on a PC - they view as expected with the correct
background . When the same slide set is opened on a MAC - the background is
appearing as all black. Are there options that need to be set on a MAC to
view the proper template?

The background was a normal ppt template with a logo image - no special
graphics.
We are checking the MAC to see if it was set to B/W View - thank you for
that idea.

Another MAC user at our site was able to open the slide set and view the
background properly. He was using an Open Office (?) application.
