Why my net folder can't synchronize?

I am using Outlook 2000 with SP3 in Windows XP. I created a net folder to share my calendar with my workmatelook , using Outlook 2000 with SP3 and Windows 98. However, I always found that my calender can't be sync. after I took away my notebook some days. And the function works when the notebook is placed in office. Does the net folder must be sync. online? Thx for attention. Ken
