Why won't my computer let me download Office 2003

C

caroline

When I tried to download Office 2003, it told me that "setup failed to locate
a valid qualifying product on your machine" then gave me the option of the
c:/ drive or the D:/ drive. So if anyone knows how to help me, please let me
know, because I REALLY need this cd to work!

You have purchased an upgrade version of Microsoft Office 2003 - it is
looking for a previous CD or installation of the qualifying product to
verify your eligibility to install the upgrade. If you have no prior
qualifying product (see the box in which Office came for qualifying
products), you will need the full version, not the upgrade version.

Terminology confusion? If you were *downloading* something, I'd presume it
was an eval/trial copy you were getting from Microsoft's website.

But the message you're getting indicates that you are trying to *install* an
upgrade version of Office 2003. Correct?

For that, you need to either have an older version of Office already
installed on your computer, or you need to have the CDs for this previous
version handy so you can insert them when prompted. If you don't have a
previous version of Office, you can't use the upgrade CD for Office 2003.
You need a "full"/regular installation CD.

Hi Caroline,

To install a Microsoft Office 2003 product upgrade CD
you'd need to have previously installed or have
the CD from an upgrade qualifier package.
