Windows Authentication on Project Server 2003 - 5002

How do I set up a user on Project Server 2003 to use
Windows Authentication?

I have a user created in the active directory, I have set
the user's password, I have created the user in Project
Server, but when the user tries to log in, the following
error message displays:

"You have entered an incorrect user name/password
combination. (5002)"

The password and user name is correct (I am an
administrator on the server so I can check.)

When I change the authentication to Project Server login,
it works fine. However, parts of Web Access (e.g.
linking risks - do not work as well when you log in with
a project server acct vs a windows acct.)

HELP!!!!

Thanks,

John:

Most likely you have a directory security setting issue in IIS. That's about
as deep as I can get with the limited information you've provided. The
answer is: Follow the installation directions to the letter, and it will
work, unless you've got issues with the underlying server build.

This is fairly common, like Cary pointed out, it's difficult to really scale down
your problem with the information given.

Now if the Windows account is located in your Enterprise Resource Pool
(which by default adds it to the Project Server users and groups), then
phyiscally typing in the windows account and password in Project Web
Access' logon page is not needed.

If the user is logged into the phyiscal computer with his/her Windows
account, then when browsing to Project Web Access, it should take that
account already being used and automatically login.

Now if you're at the logon page, on the left hand side you'll see a hyper link
that says Logon with my Windows authentication, or something like that.

Other times I have seen this message is when people made some
configuration changes within IIS. Specifically our LGNINT.ASP page, this is
one of the pages that gets called when browsing to the site, and this page
looks for windows authentication, if it does not find any then it redirects to
our LGNSP.ASP (or something close to that, can't remember the exact name).
But you might want to change if the ProjectServer virtual directory is
configured to Integrate Windows Authentication and such.

I believe there are some Knowledge Base articles that might go into deeper
instructions, so I would give that a search.

Hopefully that helps out.
