Windows Messanger

Is there anyway of disabling MESSENGER so that it is NOT
in my System Tray? I don't use it at all and when I try
to close it, I get the message saying that other Apps are
running that need it. Please reply via email as well.

Open up messenger,
Click on tools and go to options
Select the preferences tab, and uncheck the first option.(Run windows
messenger when windows starts"
