Word 2000 error document name or path is not valid

When I try to open MS Word 2000, I receive the following error message:

The document name or path is not valid. Try these suggestions:
* Check the file permissions for the document or drive.
* Use the File Open dialog box to locate the document.
(path\file name)

I have tried a repair, reinstall, and uninstall/reinstall. Nothing seems to
work and I cannot find any other solutions. I can open an existing word doc
fine, but I'd like to know why this error is being generated.

Can anyone offer any ideas, suggestions, etc?
Thanks!

Thank you for your response!

I did a cross-post in the "Office General Question" forum and received a
solution that I believe may be more what I am looking for.

The solution below was provided by Dawn Crosier

Can you open Word without any add-ins? See this article for help
on bypassing the add-ins. If you can, then you will need to
determine which new program is causing the conflict.

Thanks again for your time and help!
