Word 2000 file stuck as read only

I have a Word 2000 file that is stuck as a read-only file. How can I delete
it?

You mean, when you try to delete it in Windows you get a message that it won't
let you? Have you tried first deleting all the *.tmp and ~ files in the same
diretory, as well as in your Temp folder?
