Word 2000 Lock up

Today my computer started locking up when opening Word
2000. I am running Windows 98SE OS with Word 2000 that
came with the computer. It has worked fine for the past 5
years and now it locks up. When I use ctrl/alt/del to
unlock it I get an error that the system is dangerously
low on resources and I click end task. I cannot open
anything up after that and have to ctrl'alt'del twice to
reboot. All other programs, including other Office
programs work fine. I have ran Norton virus check,
uninstalled and installed Word, defragged, etc. Any other
ideas?

I don't use Norton but I've seen many posts about these kinds of
problems and the solution seems to be to "disable the Office plugins in
Norton".

I too am experiencing lock up in WOrd from out of no
where. I have defraged, turned off NAV, reinstalled
Windows, Word, and done the various solutions suggested
for the 1/7/04 NAV update (deselect the check for
pbulisher's certicate revocation in the IE's Advanced
Internet options, set clock back to 1/5/04, can't remove
the office plug-in in Norton as I'm a client), and I'm
continuing to read through possible solutions. It is now
also happening in IE.

Try searching your local drive for: officeav.dll

If you find it then go to Start/Run and run the following command:

regsvr32 /u "<path>\officeav.dll"
