word 2000 will not open new files and outlook 2000 won't attach fi

running winxp home.

using the "open" icon, then the "open" menu, word 2000 doesn't allow me to
highlight the file i want to open. also, won't allow use of the "view" icon
to show details. usually ends up "hanging" the computer

outlook2000 won't allow selection of files to attach to an email

I'm having the same issue as of late. I didn't see any responses to your
post. Were you able to come up with a solution?

hello, Chris. The solution was to get Microsoft's help to uninstall Office,
do some manual registry changes and reinstall Office. A simple uninstall and
reinstall didn't work. I believe that an Office "Add-in" from a 3rd
Party had caused the problem. I haven't reinstalled the 3rd Party and the
pblm has not reappeared. George
