Word 2003 and formatting styles

Hello,

A friend of mine is having a problem while using word 2003. He has a
long document and after writing about 3/4th of it he noticed that
whenever he made a change to a formatting e.g. italicize a word in a
heading, Word creates a new style/formatting rule in the style list.

Now almost at the end of document he has a huge list of formatting rules
.. How can he stop Word to not create new formatting styles
automatically? Or is there another way out of the enlongating list of
styles for the document.

Thanks,
<K>

In Word, click on Tools | Options | Edit | uncheck the "Keep
track of formatting" box | OK.
