Word 2003 Converters

In Word 2002 you could use "Insert | File" select an Excel spreadsheet and it would then use a built-in converter to embedded the excel sheets, by doing this you were able to keep the formating

Word 2003 cannot do the same. Is there an equivalent, we have tried several methods but none are close to the 2002 version.

Insert Object from file (with link if you like) will retain the Excel
formatting exactly.
