Word 2003 New Document Corrupt

I have run repair and deleted all normal.dot files and it still comes up with
a new doc of 22" wide. I have even copied a winword.doc from another
computer to this one and opened it and still 22" (Other computer it opens to
a proper 8.5"X11" setup). I am completely frustated with this situation,
what can i do to make it work properly?

In File=>Page Setup and File=>Print=>Properties
what are the default values set on?

When Normal.dot does not exist it is created by
Word on exiting from the default settings Word
has stored within the program.
