Word 2003 Normal Template

Running Word 2003 on XP. Laptop has 2 accounts, both administrators. Just
cannot get the Normal Template to save the settings for the margins or paper
size I set in Page Setup so it keeps defaulting back to big margins and
Letter size paper! I've reinstalled Office but no joy.

Any clues anyone.

After seting your document with Page Setup, you should save it as template.

File/Save as/Save as type: Document Template, File name: Normal

Tried that - it won't let me use the Normal name and insists I use another,
even if I try to save from a document using a different template.

Try change document template

Tools/Template And Add-Ins.../Document Template/Normal2 (for example)

No joy - again it won't seem to let me make any changes to the layout of the
default page that opens on start.

Maybe I found solution for your problem

Save template with layout you want as Normal2, for example.

Close Word, then open Windows Explorer or whatever and go to
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Microsoft
\Templates

Than delete Normal.dot, and rename Normal2 to Normal

....finally must work.. :)

It worked, but I have to do the same trick for all the 4 users of the
laptop! I was tempted to see if I could alter the new template through the
default button but decided against it!

Thanks so much for your advice - I thought it was just the WP in Works that
had a difficult method of setting the default!
