in word for some reason when i press enter the insertion point automatically
jumps 2 lines instead of 1, untill recently it was fine. how do i get it back
to normal?

Did you look at your paragraph settings? (This is another reason why I like
to see my non-printing characters.)

Check the default paragraph formatting for either space before or space
after settings and for Line Spacing setting (though the latter would cause
all lines to seem double-spaced).

Probably your paragraph formatting has some Spacing Before/After; check the
Format | Paragraph dialog. You may have inadvertently pressed Ctrl+0, which
adds 12 points Spacing Before. If so, pressing Ctrl+0 again will remove it.
