Word always prints in landscape!

I use an Epson Color Stylus 900 to print proposals, and large documents out
of Word X and Mariner Write.

For some reason, the default for Word is printing in landscape even though
my last printing in that document was at 8.5" X 11" portrait in the page set
up and saved as such. But it keeps reverting back to landscape when I edit it
and try to print from it again.

I went to the "Print & Fax" under System Preferences and made sure that the
"US Letter" was selected, and it was.

For some reason, even after I threw away the Microsoft Preferences and
reset any document to portrait in the "Page Set Up..." in Word, it still prints
in landscape by default in all of my Word documents unless I reset it to
portrait each time. I guess that is why Word has the reputation of overriding
the user and has a mind of its own.

Also, an uninstall with Microsoft's Office X uninstaller and a reinstall
applying the updates does not help in this situation.

What am I missing?

No such problems with Mariner Write.

Hi.
I use Windows XP and Word 97, so this may not help, but
here goes. In Page Set-up of Word you may choose portrait
under "Paper Size." After selecting that and all the
other things you want, hit the Default button at the
bottom of the Page Set-up dialog box. It will ask it if
you are sure. If you say yes, it will apply the portrait
setting and your other selections, each time you open a
new document- even if you leave a landscape preference in
Printers and Faxes.
Hope this helps.
