Word and Excel "Save As" locks up

I am on Windows XP and use Office 2003 with SP2. When i click on the drop
down arrow to change the directory when I do a "save as" in Word or Excel, it
takes probably like a minute or two before I am able to select a different
drive or directories. Any ideas on how this can be fixed?

I have had several instances where a Word document has confused Vista and
caused my computer to lock up - I then have to manually power down and power
up. Have you had any feedback with your post?

Yes. Open My Computer and R-click on and Disconnect any Unavailable
drive mappings.
