Word attachment is being removed

I am using Outlook Express. When I try to send an email
with a Word attachment, OE removes the Word attachment
from the email. The person receiving the email then gets
garbage for the attached portion. Is this a security
setting? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in
advance
