Word blocking access to attachments

I am currently using Outlook 2003 with Word 2003 (Office
2003) as my email editor. I am running XP Pro.

When I format my email as rich text accachments are not
avialble for me or the reciever to open. When attempting
to open an attachment I get a dialog box with the
message "Word cannot open the document: user does not
have access prividges."

If I create my e-mail in HTML format there is no problem
for me or the reciever.

Any suggestions?

Truning off Word as my e-mail editor works but I consider
it a sacrifical work-around. I loose several features of
Word that I use frequently. specifically being able to
right click on the default signature and then easily
selecting another.

I can live with this compromise if there is no other
solution. I tried deleting the template from the office
startup folder but this did not help.

Any other suggestions?

I don't use Word and an editor and I have complete control over my
signatures.

If you want to use Word, then remove from Word the plugin that is causing
the problem. Adobe PDFwriter is a common cause.

First of all, thanks for your patience in helping me
resolve this matter.

You are correct, not using word does still allow control
over signatures, it is just not as easy as the one click
capability with word.

I have looked at the registrty and the only add-in being
loaded is
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addin
s\Microsoft.VbaAddinForOutlook.1 and the load behavior is
set to 9.

Please bear in mind that I am not getting the security
message referred to in the article you sent me to. I an
getting a permissions error. The exact language is "Word
cannot open the document: user does not
have access prividges."

Is this message realted to security?

You're correct, I didn't completely read the error you were receiving. I
don't know if it's related to security. I'm not familiar enough with using
Word as an editor to offer any other advice. Sorry.
