Word can´t open files by double-clicking them o from email, it opens the Word
application, but not the file, in order to open the file i have to go
File>Open & select the file, or drag the file into Word, or open as admin. If
it is from email, i have to save it first then do the above.

The funny thing is that when I logged as Administrator connected to PC ( not
the Corp domain) i do not have this issue.

Problem began when i upgraded from office 2003 to 2007. I´m running Windows XP

Already tried :
1. Start>execute> winword /unregserver, then winword /regserver
2. From My PC , File>Tools>Type of file tab> re-register the extensions for
..doc & .docx
But nothing... Thanx in advanced

This happens to our users periodically??? We found that the DDE settings
were getting changed in the file type association.

In our situation this would also happen opening Word documents directly from
the hard drive. We discovered that when trying to resolve initial problem by
copying to hard drive and attempting to open from there.

-Log into workstation as Admin
-d-click the My computer button (or whatever your favorite method is to get
into file explorer
- Tools > Folder Options > File Types
- scroll down to DOC type
- click on Advanced button
- click on Open (in the Actions area)
- click on Edit
- The Application used to perform action should read:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\WINWORD.EXE" "%1"
(in his case it had /n /DDE at the end instead of "%1"
- OK, OK, Close
