Word Docs will not send in emails

Hello ..
I have a microsoft 2000 PC with microsoft word
professional 2000 installed on it. I can not send emails
with word document attacchements. Whenever I try to email
a word doc, the get an error thats says:

"The document name or path is not valid. Try these
suggestions.
* Check th file permissions for the document or drive
* Use the File Open dialog box to locate the document
(C:\windows\_____) "

I tried both of the suggestions and NOTHING WORKS!!
I have updated word from the microsoft web site, I have re-
installed office, I have done a detect and repair on
word. It just seems like NOTHING works.
Please help
