Word Document Save Error

I have a 41 page word document that when ever it is saved we get the
"Microsoft Word for windows has encountered a problem and needs to close. We
are sorry for the inconvenience."
Have cut and pasted into new template, tried to "save as" different name,
have sent error report to Microsoft and they recommened update to Office SP3
which made no difference. Have downloaded recovery tools which recovers only
the text and we lose all formating! Does any one know of a recovery tool that
would recover everything including all the formating or is there a utility
that will tell us where the corruption might be?

Make sure the name of the file is correct with a DOC extension. Try using
Save As with a different name. You should break up the doc into pages or
other units to keep the file size down. Auto backup might be causing the
problem with such a big document.

Tried the "save as", auto backup is not running. Can not break doc up. Tried
some of the suggestions from Article #826864 with no luck. Any other
suggestions from anyone?
