word files changed to wordpad format

I was sent a word perfect file and went to use a converter to convert to
word. When I went back to my other documents they had all been changed to
wordpad. How can I switch them back???

Your documents had not been 'changed' to anything. They are still exactly as
before. What has happened is that the registration for the DOC file type has
gone awry and Windows now thinks Wordpad is the app to use to open these
files. You can re-register Word by typing Winword /r in the Windows start >
run box and press enter. This should fix the display issue.
