Word for a website

C

Charlie

For years I have used Word 97 and lately Word 2003 to make my hobby website.
Recently I used Word 2003 and made a page to add to my existing site. This
is the first time I used tables to do a page. Everything seemed fine until
my brother told me he could not open the photos in FireFox. I added a link
to some text and at least now the viewer can see the photos if he clicks on
the link. I did some checking with FireFox Forums and the opinion there is
that Word is junk for doing a webpage. I would like to stick with Word, but
if I can't find a way to do the page that the photos show, I will have to
change to something else. The webpage is
www.paonline.com/chzuck/Burden.htm

Hi Charlie,

When using File=>Save As Web Page in the 'Save' dialog use
Tools=>Web Options=>Browsers
and turn off the 'Rely on VML...' setting and see if that helps.

You may also want to consider saving your master as a .doc file on your PC then for your website use File=>Save as Web Page-Filtered

Bob,
I followed your advice and I was able to view the photos on the webpage in
FireFox. I had the page setup to click on the photos to enlarge via a link
in another window. After the changes the enlargements were the same size as
the thumbnails on the original page.

Hi Charlie,

You may want to check to see if you uploaded all of the pictures. When I use a copy of the page locally and make that change the
pictures are smaller in the web page than they are in when clicking 'enlarge'

Bob,
Yes, I uploaded the file that Word creates with the images just like I did
with the original page that would not work with FireFox.
I uploaded the original page that does not work in FireFox because I like
the enlarge feature.

Charlie, thank you for asking this question, because I've had the same
problem. Bob, I want to thank you too, because your advice really helped me!
I tried all weekend trying to figure out why the pictures I had inserted in
my 2002 Word documents were not showing in web view in Word. I can see them
now in that view. THANK YOU!

If I might prevail upon you for something else, though... I've uploaded the
entire document to my website, but the pictures still do not show up there.
Is there something else I need to do?
