Using Small Business Server 2003, Windows 2000, Office 2003 Professional.
Using Exchange in cached server mode. Outlook is open. I double click a .doc
in Windows Explorer to open a Word file (In any directory on the server). It
opens as Read Only. This happens if Outlook is using Word to edit email
messages or not. This happens if I am an Administrator or a regular User. (I
wish it was a permission problem). This happens to any user on this machine
but not on other machines. It doesn't happen to other Office documents, just
Word. If I close Outlook, the Read Only issue does not occur. Detect and
Repair does not fix it. Regclean.exe did not help.
The work around of keeping Outlook closed when opening Word documents is
getting old.
Are there any similar experiences out there? Any tips or solutions?
