Word "out of memory" error when saving document with hyperlinks

Attempting to save .doc file to a SAN after editing and inserting numerous
hyperlinks to files in the same directory as the .doc. Word returns error:
"the save failed due to out of memory or disk space." I suspect it is a
memory buffer or table issue but don't know the code. Can anyone provide
some assistance and a corrective action?
