Word / Powerpoing

Hello. Here's the scenario, I am typing a letter in Word
2002. I type an entire page to a previously saved word
doc. As soon as I open Power Point, my word document
closes, not saving my work. I can recreate the problem on
several computers. Any ideas on a fix.
