Word Table of Contents

Table of contents headings have been marked, but the
separate page for viewing the entire table of contents
doesn't create (i.e. what is displayed at the front of a
report).

Is there a shortcut for printing the table of contents
once marked?

Thanks in advance.

Deb,

Marking the headings is only Step 1. You need to place
a TOC field at the beginning of the file.

First, insert a section break at the top of the file.
Then in the new Section 2 (former Section 1), set the
page numbering to restart at 1 so that the existence of
the TOC doesn't throw off the page numbering. Then
place your cursor in front of the section break and
click Insert-> Index and Tables... to have the program
set the parameters for you and generate the TOC.

To see the section breaks clearly, you need to enable
the view of formatting codes (Ctrl+Shift+8).

BTW, if you use Word's built-in heading styles you don't
need to mark the headings.
