Work at Deliverable level only

I have a Deliverable consisting of ten tasks. Becuase this Deliverable is in
a latter stage of my project I only want to be able to estimate effort at the
Deliverable level only. Is there anyway way I can enter a work value at the
Deliverable (summary task) level only ie not have to put values in each of
the ten tasks for it to summ up? I suppose I am really looking for the
"work" column at summary level to act in the same way that %Work complete
does in that one can add a value at summary level and it spreads that value
out amongst the tasks below it.

I have toyed with the idea of using a custom duration column to show the
estimate effort for the deliverable which is fine but I dont think I can
connect my end stage milestone to it - ie that would still come at the end of
the last task within the deliverable.

Hi Steve,

For your problem I see as best solution a VBA procedure spreading work (or
duration?) among the tasks according to a certain rule (which one?)
When I think of it, entering parameters for such a calculation might be
exactly the same effort as to enter individual estimates... unless you think
of simply dividing the total effort by the number of tasks?

As for the final milestone, if you only have duration at summary level, take
the milesone out of the summary task and link it to the summary task itself.
