Apply bar formatting to a group of selected bars at the same time

Is there any way to format the bars of a selected group of tasks. We
have a near-term deliverable with about 8 tasks. I would like the
bars of those tasks to have a different color than blue so that people
can quickly see what's coming up soon. The project has tasks through
September, so I want the other 15 to 20 task bars to remain blue.

I know I can do this one task at a time, but if there was a way to do
this "en masse" that would be great. That way after the deliverable
is submitted, I can change the bar color back to blue quickly.

Thanks.

Hello rdemyan,

A couple of options:

You can select several tasks with one command, using CTRL + click to
select multiple tasks. Then Format > Bar to change the bar formatting
of the selected tasks.

The other, slightly longer but more effective way is to set a one of
the spare Flag fields to "yes" and then create a custom bar style for
those tasks.

Add one of the spare Flag fields (Insert > column) and set the flag to
"yes" for the 8 or so tasks. Then choose Format > Bar Styles. Cut
and paste twice one of the existing bar styles. Change the bar
definition as follows:
Name: Whatever you wish
Appearance: Select the bar shape and style
Show for .... Tasks: Flag1
Row: 1
From: Start
To: Finish

If you place the newly created bar style below the usual "Task"
definition, you will layer your bar style over the usual blue task
bars. You could also change the "Task" definition to Show for ...
Tasks: Normal, Not Flag1

By using the Flag fields, you can easily format other tasks later by
simply setting the flag to "yes" or "no" as needed.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
