hi,
i want to work offline on a project plan and i fallow this steps from
microsoft site:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/project/HA101487721033.aspx
but when i want to open the project offline its always open read only
and i can't publish it
any idea to help me??
i try to overwrite by check in the project using
Force Check-in Enterprise Objects
thin open the project from local then save it in the same name of the old
one, its work but the problem after that , that all project not updated from
resources.
i mean if user x submit task working for 10h for example the project manager
can see x updated in (tasks updates) but after accept the changes nothing
happen to project plan

I don't know why your project plan is opening offline in read-only, I
followed the instructions and had no issues. I have a feeling you might not
be following the instructions exactly. Make sure you are have the correct
environment highlighted on the log in screen when you select offline. This
means you have to have the connection state set to Manual under
Start>Program>Microsoft Office>Microsoft Office Tools>Microsoft Office
Project Server 2007 Accounts

Also, when you are working offline, you should not be able to publish, if
you try it, you will receive an error message stating that you cannot
publish offline. Working offline means you are not sending any information
to the database, you are working locally and when you log back onto the
server, then you have the option to synchronize your local changes to the
Draft db by saving back online and then to the Published and Reporting db's
by publishing the plan.

then open the ms project pro 2007 as offline and press open and i get this:
http://blufiles.storage.live.com/y1...Bi_iizV7sMVolt7ekGCQLiW6SB8O4VALR351m-o6SuAqc

I was able to replicated your issue by selecting the work offline option
when selecting a different environment than the one that I kept the plan
checked-out in.

Again, can you verify: How many environments do you have access to through
your server account setup and have you made sure to change your connection
state to manual. When you log on, you should select the appropriate
environment from the dropdown list and then click on Work Offline. You also
need to use the same credentials you used when you checked out the plan.

Before you exit off the server environment, verify that if you do a
file-open, the plan in question shows up in the cached list as "Checked
Out".

If everything is done correctly, you will see some files in the list as
read-only but ones you have left in Checked-Out mode will display the text
"Checked Out" and the option to open in Read-Write will be enabled and
selected by default.

what u mean by this??
How many environments do you have access to through
your server account setup ??

i use domain controlar and login to my pc as memmber of this domain
if i open the project pro. for offline i select offline by pressing on
offline button "First message dialog when open project server" i select the
profile and its the same profile when online and then press offline rather
than ok for working as connected.

That is what I meant, sounds like you are doing it correctly. One more
thing was to verify before you logged off the online version, that the plan
you intend to leave checked out is showing up as "Checked Out" when you go
to File>Open.

Also, did you by any chance install any hotfixes on your environment,
specifically the one for KB 937907 that dealt with cache issues?

That is great news, thanks for letting us know.

It could be related to the issues found in KB 937907 which is included as
part of SP1

Thanks,
