I don't recall any way to put working hours on a non-working day. A
non-working day is a day on which no work is done. If you have 6 hrs
of work scheduled on a day, it's a working day. Can't be a non-working
day! If you wish to change the definition of a non-working day, you'll
have to contact M$ and convince them that non-working days should
allowed to have working hours assigned! Best of luck!

You can apply a task level calendar in which that time is not defined as a
non working time and set the option to overwrite the resource calendar.
This will be task specific.
