Is it possible to insert a table from a Works 8.5 speadsheet? When i try, all
i get is text from the cells but no table. I can import an Excel spreadsheet
table ok though.

Thanks for replying. An image would not work as i would like to format the
table. How does one OCR from OneNote 2007? Would the table be able to be
added to or played with after OCR?

The automatic OCR feature in ON will only capture the next but not the
formatting and the lines for the cells in a table.

Complete amateur here as some will attest to but I have only worked with
OneNote about a day and already converted everything I had done and saved in
Works to Word. One other significant issue was that I also work with
WordPerfect and the file formats will get confusing to sort out between
Works and WP.

OneNote 2007 will automatically OCR pasted images (If for some reason it
doesn't go to Tools | Options | Other and make sure "Disable text
recognition..." is unchecked).

After OCR you should be able to edit it somewhat, though I'm not sure
exactly how the table will format at that point.

No chance you could upgrade to Excel?

I can't speak for version 8.5 of Works, but I =do= have version 9.0
installed (heaven knows why, but I kept it on this system -- perhaps
by divine design just for this instance? :D). I tried it, and can
paste a selected set of cells from a spreadsheet into a OneNote 2007
page in one of two ways: as text, or as a picture.

If pasting the same data from Excel, it puts it into the OneNote page
as a table, but no calculations are done on the data once it's been
pasted: there is no link between the Excel data and the OneNote data,
so if it's changed in either place, the change is not reflected in the
other.
