Works vs Excel

D

Dick M.

I have some files on my computer (wks and wdb) which opened
with Works 95, which I used to have on my computer.
Now I have Office Xp, which includes Excel. Is Excel supposed
to open any of these? It doesn't seem to do that.

Hi Dick,

WDB files are Works Database files and there isn't
much support for converting those. The usual method
is to export them from MS Works into either Comma
Separated Values (CSV) or dBase (DBF) format, which
Excel can open.

In newer versions of Works the spreadsheets are compatible
with MS Excel. In older Works versions the spreadsheet
files need a 3rd party converter.
