Writing mathematic formulas

Ebbe

Hi!

I am not quite sure, that this is the right forum to ask the following
question. Correct me if I am wrong.

I am an old user of WordPerfect, that converted to MS-Word some years ago.

In the WordPerfect-days I could use a "Formula editor" to construct complex
mathematical functions and equations. I strongly miss this functionality to
day.

Do MS-Word offer a similar way to write formulas?

Word has the Equation Editor, which I guarantee you is easier and more
intuitive than WP's Formula Editor (which I have used with considerable
pain). EE is not installed by default, so you may need to rerun setup to
install it. First look at Insert | Object to see if you have Microsoft
Equation 3.0 listed. If you do, then EE is installed. You can insert an
equation using this command, or you can open Tools | Customize, select the
Commands tab, find Equation Editor in the list of commands for the Insert
category, and drag it to a toolbar.

If you find that EE is not installed, go to Control Panel | Add/Remove
Programs, select Microsoft Office, and click the Change button. In the first
page, select "Add or Remove Features." On the next page, expand "Office
Tools." Select Equation Editor and set it to "Run from My Computer." Click
the Update button, and insert the Office CD when prompted.
