Wrong email address defaults for replies

I have 3 email account set up in Outlook 2002 (SP-2).

I've selected my primary account as "default" in the
Account setup.

When I receive a reply to a message I send from the
primary or secondary account, I hit reply and the third
account is indicated as my reply email account versus the
primary or secondary account.

Why doesn't the primary or secondary account remain in
replies as the default email address for the email thread?
