wrong order of date in date-field

I'm using frontpage XP and Access XP. If i make a database in access with
just a namefield and a field for the date in the order of day/month/year
everyhting seems to be fine. But when i'm using the same database in
frontpage the order becomes month/day/year. What am i doing wrong?

What I like to do is to store the date as a string. That way you can
format it as you like and it is easy to manipulate a string.
