I can't get my new XP Pro installs to take an Access 1.1
Upgrade. Access 1.0 install went fine by using RunAs Win95
during the installation.
"Windows for Workgroups Update" shows in the title bar.
The messages says "The version of Windows for Workgroups
you are using must be upgraded before Microsoft Access can
be installed. You must perform the following steps: 1.
Quit Windows for Workgroups 2. Read and follow the
instructions in the file WFWDRV.TXT on the first disk. 3.
Run the Microsoft Access Setup program again to complete
the installation of Microsoft Access."
I've got several old proprietary systems, as in 486s
running WFW and Win95, that I must support and each
requires Access 1.x databases. Tried most all
troubleshooting approaches like RunAs and Compatibility.
Before somebody suggests upgrading, no they cannot upgrade
the database version as the machining and tooling programs
installed require the databases be Access 1.x versions
only. The company is a smaller firm and purchasing a newer
version of the engineering application itself isn't an
option either as it would be cost ineffective to them.
The tables require periodic maintenance where fields must
be edited, requiring Access 1.1 be the only database app
used. Saw where somebody else had this same issue but no
solution was ever posted.
Surely there has to be a work around or solution. Can
anyone help?
