XP Professional install

Dave

I purchased a desktop from Dell a few years ago. I had
XP Professional installed. I am in the process of buying
a notebook. Since I have the XP Professional disks can I
also install the software on the notebook or do I need to
buy another copy?
Thanks,
Dave

I believe that the rule on licensing is that the old
computer must be taken out of commission and/or the
program must be uninstalled before you can put it on a
new machine. You bought a license to put it on one
machine and as long as you only have it on one machine
you shouldn't have a problem. If you want to have it on
both machines then you need to buy another copy. This is
my understanding but i am not a lawyer and i do not work
for microsoft.

If the OP:

He can view this information by going here on his system:
